We were pleased to announce back in August 2020 that the first person was dosed with ZF874, a potential treatment for alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency. Then on the 24th September we published the details for HMR who are running the trail on behalf of Z Factor, asking for PiMZ people to help.
Alpha-1 Awareness is dedicated to contributing a minimum of 10% of its funds raised towards research to find a cure for this condition. In 2018, we went above and beyond this target, donating £25,000 to the patron of the Charity, Prof Lomas, Vice-Provost of Health at University College London (UCL).
On 8 July 2018, Alpha-1 Awareness hosted its 10 year Celebration Day, celebrating 10 years since the founding of the charity. World-renowned speakers were invited to share their knowledge on Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, Professor David Lomas and Professor Nedim Hadzic, as well as those conquering the condition themselves, Karen Skålvoll.
